Session 1: Preparing for the 40 days

Welcome to Session 1 of Redeemed!  My name is Aimee Pence and I am so glad you chose to join us.  I love this quote from Angela...

When MY GREAT NEED (I CAN'T) accepts GOD'S GREAT LOVE (HE CAN), REDEMPTION BEGINS.

Are you ready to begin?  I know I am!  Tomorrow begins our 40 days of intentional time with God.  There are 42 days in this 6-week study, so you get 2 days to warm up:)  God used the number 40 in the Bible to do work in the hearts and lives of His followers and believers.  And Angela is going to follow that same example.

She is asking us to pray, 7 days a week.  And as we pray, we are reading through the Psalms.  Then we take 5 days to follow the study (and Angela will explain how and when to read the Psalms).  If things go crazy and you miss a day of the study, will you commit with me to still continue praying?  Sometimes we need to be stretched and go in a way we haven't gone before to know Him in a way we haven't known Him before.  If you don't know how to pray then follow the Lord's Prayer.

the lords prayer

I would encourage you to stay in the presence of God until you have heard what He wants to add to your list.  He will lead, guide and direct us all.

We will experience the truths of redemption in the presence of God.  It is important that we know these truths deep in our hearts.  When we bring our effort to God's power by the way of prayer, it's amazing what He will do.  We will be changed for His Glory!  Christ is our Redeemer.  The redemption process is ongoing and requires our cooperation.  God wants to take the women we have been and reshape our hearts and characters so we become more fully like Him.

It doesn't matter where you have come from because we are alike in many ways.  Angela talks about the sashes we wear down the runway of life...names we call ourselves and titles we have been assigned by others.  Miss UnderstoodMiss OverwhelmedMiss Insecure?  Those sashes become chains and they become heavy.  Then we feel that we deserve the enormous weight we carry.  We had better hold on to them.  Someone might remind us of them.  I believe God wants to do a work in us all called FREEDOM.  Will you take off those chains with me?  Let Christ in to do the work only He can do.  I will be praying for you.  Will you pray for me?

If you need a book to follow along with our study, please let me know by commenting below.  I am also going to be drawing/journaling as I read through the Psalms and pray.  And I would love to hear from you during the next 6 weeks.  Come along with me, friend.  You are not alone.

If you like music, check out this song by Natalie Grant called Clean

My hearts' beating inside my chest.  I'm coming alive with love and destiny.  'Cause you're restorin' me, piece by piece...

Washed in the Blood of your sacrifice, Your Blood flowed red and made me white.  My dirty rags are purified, I am clean.
