Deacon Ordination Service 2013
We live in a society that's not good at taking orders. That's why we love to vilify those in authority. Why? That's who we are. There's no wonder there are not many good candidates that run for office. It's not only true in the world but also in the church. The best leaders sit quietly in the pews many times. Thankfully that's not true of Pinedale. We have been blessed for 100 years with great leaders. We don't spotlight them or honor them with accolades, we believe this church belongs to Jesus and ought to honor Him.
Every church is one generation away from extinction. Thankfully God is raising up people to answer the call to His service every day. (Ephesians 4:7,11) Leaders are necessary to accomplish God's work in the church. How do you recognize good leaders? A leader sets the tone around them just like in their family (1 Timothy 3:11-13). The word deacon simply means servant. A deacon is a man who lives his life the same way in every situation. No secret sins, no moral issues, no intentionally unresolved conflicts etc. His home should be a mini-church. A heart for service is cultivated in the next generation by example. Those men who are being ordained today have answered the call and the church is grateful.
