Series: Last Words First
Scripture: John 13:31–13:34
How do people know you are a Christian shortly after they meet you? There is no good, practical way for it to show aside from jewelry, tattoos, ID card, etc. All nonsense aside, Christians should be like those in the early church. Our actions and lifestyle should reveal Who we belong to. The life of every Christian should bring glory to God.
The bible teaches us how to recognize a Christian: by loving one another as Jesus loves us “By this all men will know that you are my Disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34) Love with a sacrificial love—one that doesn’t put yourself or your needs first.
Loving like Jesus:
Living in opposition to God’s desire is like a clanging cymbal-obnoxious and annoying. It does not earn an audience with others; and renders you ineffective in the kingdom of God. Our faith should not be hidden, rather it should shine and glorify God. (Matthew 5:14-16) Christians should be consistent in life, not just in the pew on Sunday.
