The church is on a rescue mission. God established the church to seek and save the lost. (2 Peter 3:9-10) So what does that mean to the individual Christian? It means we must share the gospel with those we meet.
Luke lays out what God expects us to do in Acts 11. Men from Cyprus and Cyrene stepped out and took the gospel to the Gentiles. God was with them and the church in Antioch grew exponentially; so much so the the church at Jerusalem couldn't ignore it anymore. It became the gateway city for the spread of the gospel to Asia minor.
Spreading the gospel today works in the same way:
• Recognize opportunities-and be bold! We are surrounded by people who need God's grace and mercy and they simply don't know. How will they know if we don't tell them?
• Be different. Speak and act in such a way that shows God lives inside you.
• Put love in action. Love means more than caring about people: it means getting involved with others. Love them enough to speak your heart even when it's tough.
• Keep stretching. The church should not sit still; we must keep stretching for God. When was the last time you really stretched for the Lord?
